NYPD Wants to Jam Cell Phones During Terror Attack

I saw this title when perusing various sites this morning. I have been thinking over the last few days about a couple of questions that are bothering me regarding terrorism in the US.

First, is the United States combating terrorism correctly right now? How do you measure that? By how many 'terrorism' attacks there have been in a years time? 5 years time? 10? By how many people have died resulting from terrorism?

I'm pretty weary at this point because there really hasn't been a successful attack since 9/11. Can you think of any? And why is that? Are the police and military members now able to defend America?

On to the article/blog. The debate is 'how far can the police go in a terrorist attack.' Should they block cell phone calls?

The answer is no at this point. I'm glad to see the city of New York thinking about the next attempt, but blocking cell phone calls? I think that would create mass panic, and you can still use radios. And radios have been popular of terrorists and criminals for years. Plus, who would get to make the call to block cell phones? What is the timeframe of deciding it's a terrorist attack, or for that matter, what constitutes a terrorist attack? And, will it all be over by the time they act, and black out the network?

Good direction, wrong tactic. I think they should stick to manpower, and intelligence.
