Movie Reviews and DVD Contest
I have two movies I think you should watch that peak my interest. Both movies are what I classify as 'terrorism action.' So if you arn't into that, you probably wont understand them, but I do encourage you to watch them. It will bring a little light into your realm if you don't understand Islam or Jihad. Anyone remember the KKK?
DVD Contest (ends January 31st 09):
If you don't watch these movies, please watch this 30 minute documentary included in this blog (below). It details a supposed CIA program to kidnap 'terrorists.' Please be warned though, that this is an intense story and even though it doesn't contain violent images, it will make your spine shiver. If you watch this documentary, please leave a comment on this post with your feelings and thoughts or email me at webmaster@thebigpictoday.com. I will pick one comment to receive the movie Rendition on DVD. Good Luck!
RENDITION
"After a terrorist bombing kills an American envoy in a foreign country. An investigation leads to an Egyptian who has been living in the United States for years and who is married to an American. He is apprehended when he's on his way home. " (IMDB)
Jake Gyllenhall plays the CIA operative, and I felt the emotion his character faces when debating the morals of the torture he witnesses, all in the name of 'The Global War on Terrorism.' (<- A real thing) How far are we (Western countries) willing to go? The program that the movie is based off of is supposedly ran by the CIA and is called extraordinary rendition. Wikipedia describes the program as:
"Extraordinary rendition and irregular rendition are terms used to describe the apprehension and extrajudicial transfer of a person from one state to another,[1] and the term "torture by proxy" is used by some critics to describe situations in which the U.S. has purportedly transferred suspected terrorists to countries known to employ harsh interrogation techniques that may rise to the level of torture. It has been alleged that torture has been employed with the knowledge or acquiescence of the United States (a transfer of anyone to anywhere for the purpose of torture is a violation of US law), although United States Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice stated in an April 2006 radio interview that the United States does not transfer people to places where it is known they will be tortured.[1][2][3] "

TRAITOR
"Samir Horn (Don Cheadle), a devout American Muslim, and a former U.S. Army Special Forces expert in explosives, has been mysteriously showing up on the FBI's radar for being in the area of terrorist bombings. (Douglas Young (the-movie-guy)) " IMDBUsually, I am able to guess the plot twists of the movies I watch, but with Traitor I didn't. This is a good movie to get a perspective on Islam. Another good movie that questions western countries: how far are we willing to go?

I've watched Traitor two weeks ago, but not quite understand the whole idea. It was a noisy weekend, so my attention wasn't there, I have to watch it again!
