US Election 08 - Obama Wins (not yet)
So what has happened between the beginning of September and now, T minus 6 days? Senator Obama and Senator McCain were neck and neck at about 45% each in the polls, and now it looks as if Barack Obama has left John McCain in the dust. No one can count John out though, as there have been upsets in past presidential elections, BUT it’s not looking good as the experts are saying that Senator Obama can already depend on 192 of the needed 270 electoral votes while Senator McCain only has 122. I don’t care about that stuff though, as no one knows the outcome till election day. What I am really worried about though isn’t either of their pasts. I want to know how the next president of the United States will do on the job.
How will the next president handle the US financial situation, and whip the feds into shape? Will they draw back from the front lines of Iraq and Afghanistan sooner rather than later, or will they pull the trigger on Iran? For that matter, how will the next president reign in Iran, because that is what must be done. A successful US President will find middle ground for Israel and the Arabs of the mid east, and this doesn’t mean throwing money in it. Simply put, the next president has to actually be a diplomat of diplomats.
I have concerns for both candidates though. For Barack Obama, it’s the fact that he hasn’t been a politician that long. For McCain, it’s that he has been a politician for too long. What is McCain’s four year health outlook and would Sarah Palin be able to take over, god forbid something happened.
I hope you vote because this is what America was founded on, but if you don’t I respect that you trust everyone else who did because that’s exactly what you are doing. You not voting is also what America was founded on too, but the more the merrier.
And I’m not telling you who I voted for as I think I shouldn’t sway voting.
I’ll be writing more on all the above mentioned topics in the near future, and remember to look at the big picture.
